Thank You a Latte!

Over at DL. Art I decided to join my FIRST linky party thanks to my daily visit to Missy’s Blog (Quick Chick Design) and finding out that this even exists.  It is called Thankful Thursday Challenge.

I made these gift card holders last week with the pre-k summer camp’s teachers my oldest is attending this summer.  This was the first time in her four years of life, I ever did a drop-off with my kids. It was WAY harder on me and my youngest than my oldest on the first day of saying goodbye for a few hours.  She was like, “See you later and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

Here teachers are amazing and I love them dearly and I wanted to just show them how my I appreciate them on the last day coming up in a few weeks!

You have a few days stills to join this challenge, and would a least go and check out the creations that have been submitted.  There is a ton of talent and inspiration over there!

Thanks for sharing a piece of “a whole a latte thanks” pie with me!

Note- to create the back of the card to hold the gift card, I used the “flip feature for the layers and then only used adhesive along the edges of the bottom layer so the card could slide in. Also fits in an A2 sized envelope!

My First Guest Designer Spot with Getting Cricky!

My blog buddy, over at Leelee Card Design, is on the design team for K. Andrew Design at Getting Cricky.  I recently got some of her stamps and did a project with them and before I knew it, I was invited to be a guest designer for Getting Cricky that is showcased today!

Here are the two projects I did with included recipes.  They were super fun and I really did enjoy creating with her stamp sets. Head on over and check out her stamp line!

My First Monday Fantabulous Cricut Challenge – Fun with Puns

I found this blog, Fantabulous Cricut this past weekend and was actually challenged by this week’s challenge of making a card using a pun. I usually don’t gravitate towards using puns in my card making, so this posed a bit of a fun challenge.  I had  certain peeps in mind for this card and began to build a concept.  I printed out the pun on card stock in a font that would most suit as a stamp at 14 pt Bradley font and for the word “hare” at 16 pt Bradley font.

This card is for two people who have been through the ringer with loss, illness and very surprising news these past few months.  I hope this brings a smile to their faces when they open this card!

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of “puny” pie with me.

MPS Christmas Card Challenge

My Pink Stamper just announced a Christmas Card Challenge.  I was so excited about this since I wanted to execute an idea I have been brewing up.  Most of all I am thrilled I get to kill two birds with one stone!  That is sooo my kind of project!

Both my girls are in gymnastics and we just adore their coaches.  It takes a special person to want to take on the challenge to teach a 2 and 3-year-old how to jump, tumble and balance… I call it “herding cats”.  Because of that I wanted to do something a little more than just give them a card or a “homemade treat”.   I decided that I will give them both Starbucks gift cards during the holiday.   They are both young college students that are being fueled by the sweet nectar of energy, so I figured they would appreciate a holiday theme gift card-card screaming a blissful cup of joe!

So not only did I come up with a fun card, I made two of them and now I am done with that “holiday to-do” WAY ahead of schedule!  Yay!

Thanks for coming and having a piece of  “killing two birds with one stone” pie with me!

Happy B-Latte Birthday!

I will let the title speak for itself.  I made this card for my sister-in-law since I did remember her b-day, but forgot to mail her a card.  She loves coffee and I thought what a cute play on words.  This turned out to be one of my favorite cards I have made so far!

I used my Design Studio to weld letters together from the Wild Card cartridge AND got to try out one of my favorite new cartridges, Love You A Latte!   I was a little backwards at first on how it cuts out, but after a few “whoops” moments and some paper waste, I figured it out.

To get the look I was going for, I had to use the “real size” dial on the base layer and then disable that and cut the layers a few times on different paper for each layer color I wanted.   I decided, that this card recipe would be better explained on a video, so I may shoot my fist one. . . . we will see.

Thank you for sharing a piece of “b-latte” pie with me!

Recipe:

Cartridges:

  • Wild Card for the font (I love the font on this cart!)  font size was 1.5 inches.
  • Love You a Latte Cricut Light – this is so far one of my top 3 fav carts!  Cup shadow (dark brown paper) was cut at 5 1/2 on “real size” then the layers were cut on normal setting at 5 1/2.

Paper:

  • Recollections off white for card base 8.5×11 cut in half and then using a bone folder, folding in half to make a card
  • Die Cuts with a View – Harvest Gatherings (mini stack 4.5×6.5) cut at 4 x 5 1/4 and then embossed
  • Various scrap for cup layers and lettering (love using scrap paper for these types of projects since I seem to accumulate a ton)

Cuttlebug: Embossing Folder “Happy Birthday”

Ribbon: My Craft Spot: Baker’s Twine

Stickles: Diamonds

Pop Dots
