Fantabulous Cricut Challenge – Seeing Spots!

Hello and Happy last Monday of October!  First I want to give a quick moment of thought to all our friends dealing with Sandy on the East Coast! I have been glued to the TV watching it all the updates this past weekend.

It is another fun challenge over at Fantabulous Circut! This week’s theme is seeing spots! I decided to steer away from a Halloween themed project and make a card for someone special in our life.  It is her birthday this month and she lives in the mountains in Colorado.  They actually have foxes, deer, elk and bears visit them everyday!  She works from home and has a chance to really enjoy her woodland friends. I  tease her that she is the modern-day Snow White.  I decided to make this card with the help of my girls.  This is exactly how she will spend her birthday and will love her woodland friend “Birthday Bash”.  I made sure to incorporate the polka dots all through the project.  Nothing screams birthday bash than polka-dots!

The card was a 8.5×11 inch card stock folded in half and I added the green polka-dot paper I found in the $ bin at Target.

The stump was cut from page 61 of Create a Critter. I embossed it with Cuttlebug folder Distressed Stripes and added stickles to the leaf.  Also note that I cut 3 layers and added a demenitional to each layer of the stump for height and layering.

For the deer, bear, and fox I cut them from Create a Critter at 2.75 inches each.  (I did have to cut the fox with Cricut Craft Room so I could hide the mouth).  I added 1/8 inch polka-dot ribbon around the neck of the bear and deer. I cut party hats from Celebrations at 1.5 inches and used some Stickles on the hat to add some bling. I added some black Glossy Accents to the feet, noses and eyes of these cute critters as well.

For the cake, I pulled out my Sweet Treats cartridge, page 40, and cut it at 3 inches.  I wrapped the candle in the 1/8 inch ribbon and added stickles.  To add the height to it, I had to double up the Pop Dots as I was laying out the page. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper’s Spectacular Sayings stamp set and I used Close to My Heart Chocolate stamp ink. Please note I also cut 3 base layers and added dimensional in between for height and layering.

The balloons are my favorite part of this project.  I cut then out from Celebrations at 1.25 and 1.5 inches.  I used Papertreyink Bitty Dots (2008) collection!  I am finding I love Papertrey Ink products a lot!   I finished them with adding Baker’s Twine from the Twinery.

Now don’t forget to head over and check out all the creativity that the design team has cookn’ and LINK up a fun polka-dot inspired project!

A Bit of Horsin’ Around!

Our church puts on quite a Vaction Bible School and opens it to the community for free. It runs a full week in the evening and over 300 kids from pre-k to high school come.  It is one of the best ran VBS’s I have ever witnessed and there are over 100 volunteers that take time out of their busy lives and give back to the kids in the church and community, me being one of them.  This year we also were a church that a VBS publication Gospel Light was there filming the use of their product so it was exciting for the kids to be a part of!

On the last night I wanted to give the group I was in (Craft Group of course) , the Children’s director and the Group Leaders of my 4-year-old daughter’s group a little something to say thank you, since I knew first hand how much work and commitment it took to pull off such a wonderful event!

The theme was “Wild West” and the craft team helped make cute ride’em ponies that were a huge hit with the kiddos, so in capturing that moment, I made goodie bags and a couple of cards!

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of ” a bit of horsey business” pie with me!

It’s a Peachy Keen kind of Project!

This morning I had to whip out a card for a 4-year-old little girl’s birthday party we went to today and decided that I would design the card around a challenge I saw last night at Peachy Keen.  The Peachy Keen Challenge: 18 is an anything goes the project so that made it be a wonderful luxury to being free in my card design.

I have been really wanting to try out making rosettes with crepe paper streamers and they were a snap (I made an extra one for another card I will be needing to make soon).  I followed the tutorial I found on Pinterest.

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of “it is all just peachy keen” pie with me!

My Pink Stamper’s Pink-alicious Blog Hop Challenge!

I was not sure I was going to be able to participate in My Pink Stamper’s Blog Hop Challenge this go-around since I am still nursing the war wounds of having the stomach flu for the second time in 6 -weeks!  Yikes!

But today, I wanted to take it easy and decided to work on my Valentine’s Day project stuff and came up with this card times four for some special moms I am getting to know in my daughter’s co-op preschool using the challenge details of using multiple My Pink Stamper Stamps, a Cricut cut out, the color pink ribbon, a circle and the color red.

All these moms share something special in common!  They are expecting!  There are 19 of us and four are expecting!  I decided to do a semi-Valentine meets word collage for a perggers mommy card.  I am doing something else for all those that decided not to drink the water, but I wanted to do something a little more special for these ladies.

Some have had horrible morning sickness, some have worries from what they experienced in their last pregnancies and ALL already have small children to tend to.  Since I could write a book about all the above, I have a special place in my heart for these ladies and if and when I can get a chance to show them I care, I will . . . hence the card.

Thanks for sharing a piece of “remembering what it was like being pregnant and showing a little extra love to those that are on Valentine’s Day” pie with me.
