Congrats to a Musical Grad!

DSC_6657Happy Monday all!  I can’t believe we are already in May and all that the month of May brings!  Thankfully Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog’s challenge lines up with something I needed to scratch off my to-do list! Yay! It is a Graduation inspired project using at least ONE Cricut cut.

I busted out Everyday Pop-Up Cards and cut the cap at 4 inches.  I then headed over to the Silhouette store and found some musical notes and cut them out at 1 1/2 inches.  My nephew is graduating HS this month and he received the Louie Armstrong Jazz Award for all his accomplishments in music while he was at HS.  This kid can play anything he picks up.  Oh to have that talent!

I found some paper that had music terms from DCWV School Stack and followed the school colors for the cap using Papertreyink.com and DCWV Glitter Stack.  I finished the cap using twine from The Twinery and some CANDi for the tassel and sentiment form My Pink Stamper retired collection with Close to My Heart Slate ink. I hit the notes with gold Sickles!

For the envelope, I just added some of the DCWV paper cutting it down to fit as an insert and punching the top with a MS punch.  I scored the crease and used my ATG to have it stick inside the envelope!  I think it adds a more personal feel to the whole project!

Easy breezy lemon squeezy  yet it has a lot of personal touches.  Now head over and LINK up your Graduation project using at least ONE Cricut project!

April Showers Bring Rainbow Smiles!

FCCB_DT_btn

Happy Monday all!  Today over at Fantabulous Cricut, we have a new challenge on deck!  April showers using an umbrella.   Sadly, I don’t see much rain since I live in the ever sunny Southern California, but when we do see rain we normally see rainbows, which always make me smile!  That was my inspiration for this week’s challenge.

This card was super fun to make! It is a 6×6.5 inch card. The base card stock is from Stampin’ Up and the inked edges is from Close to My Heart Slate stamp ink.  I had both my Circut and Silhouette sharing duties.  I found the cloud cut over at the Silhouette store by Lori Whitlock.  I cut it twice, inked the edges and stamped the sentiment using Scrappy Moms Kids Incorporated stamp set. I used Pop Dots to add height to the layers.

For the umbrellas I cut each from Cricut cartridge, Everyday Pop-Up Cards at 1.5 inches using Recollection Bright card stock.  I then ran them through the Cuttlebug using Cuttlebug embossing boarders.  I added different heights using Pop Dots.  Using mini Glue Dots, I added Dew Drops, from Robin’s Nest and Skittles.

This is going to be a hard card to let go, since it truly makes me smile.  Now be sure to head over to FCCB and see the other amazing inspirations that the rest of the design team has cookn’ and link up your April Showers and umbrella project using at least ONE Cricut cut.

Thanks for sharing a piece of “who does not smile when they see rainbows” pie with me.

Baby Shower Fun

As I have mentioned before, I was asked to help with a baby shower for someone.  She had told me that the theme was “clothesline” and that the colors needed to be blue and green.  What I needed to do was make a banner and several center pieces.  This is what I came up with!

The execution was fairly simple and I learned a new trick while shopping out the flowers.  I live in an area that has a Trader Joe’s and since I shop religiously at our local one every week on the same day at the same time since my first child was born, I have grown to know most of the staff including the woman who orders all their flowers.  I asked her if it was possible to make an order for specific flowers that they do carry and they hold them for me.  Well guess what they do!  If anyone knows anything about hydrangeas, they are a costly flower if you try to purchase them at a florist.  At Trader Joe’s they are half the cost!

I ended up making about a 4.5 foot banner, 7 center pieces, and a marker for the gift table. Doing the whole project with all the supplies cost me $62 and about 5 hours of my time in total and that included me delivering.  They loved it and it looked amazing added to what they had already done to the backyard.

Thanks for sharing a piece of “baby, baby and more baby” pie with me.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #120 – Sunny Days

It is that time again… OK it is only my second time proudly designing a project for FCCB as a design team member! This project was so fun for me, since I wanted to do a baby card and the theme of the shower is “Clothesline”!
Nothing shouts sunny days to me than a line of freshly washed laundry being sun kissed dry by the sun!

Now, head on over and check out all the sunny inspriation and join this week’s challenge!

Rockin’ the Baby Chic!

I have a friend down from” Canada eh?” that is 20 weeks preggers and it is her first baby!  She is quite the fashionista and is one of those people who looks amazing ALL the time!  They don’t know the gender of the baby yet, but I wanted to get her something that I found useful when my little one’s were brand new bundles of joy.  I found a zebra print Swaddle Me, baby swaddle with the velcro on it and used that as my inspiration for her quickly made card.

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of “not your traditional baby card” pie with me.

My Pink Stamper’s Pink-alicious Blog Hop Challenge!

I was not sure I was going to be able to participate in My Pink Stamper’s Blog Hop Challenge this go-around since I am still nursing the war wounds of having the stomach flu for the second time in 6 -weeks!  Yikes!

But today, I wanted to take it easy and decided to work on my Valentine’s Day project stuff and came up with this card times four for some special moms I am getting to know in my daughter’s co-op preschool using the challenge details of using multiple My Pink Stamper Stamps, a Cricut cut out, the color pink ribbon, a circle and the color red.

All these moms share something special in common!  They are expecting!  There are 19 of us and four are expecting!  I decided to do a semi-Valentine meets word collage for a perggers mommy card.  I am doing something else for all those that decided not to drink the water, but I wanted to do something a little more special for these ladies.

Some have had horrible morning sickness, some have worries from what they experienced in their last pregnancies and ALL already have small children to tend to.  Since I could write a book about all the above, I have a special place in my heart for these ladies and if and when I can get a chance to show them I care, I will . . . hence the card.

Thanks for sharing a piece of “remembering what it was like being pregnant and showing a little extra love to those that are on Valentine’s Day” pie with me.
