Little Girls are made of Rainbow & Unicorn Magic

Hi all and happy Friday!  I am super excited to share a fun and VERY easy banner I recently made for a birthday party of a close family friend.  The theme was what any six-year-old little girl would want, Rainbows and Unicorns!  I wish I could say I came up with this idea on my own, but with time not being my friend, I pulled inspiration from this amazing banner I found on PINTEREST! Thank goodness for Pinterest!

I actually dusted off my Circut to make the banner bases and letters with the Storybook cart, but the star of the show came from Miss Kate Cuttables over at the Silhouette Store.  I ended up un-grouping and filling each layer with color and then grouping the colored layers back together.  I set the cut to OUTLINE only and then ran through the printer and cut.

I punched holes at the top and secured with some American Craft ribbon, added some stickles, gems and a couple rainbow stickers and called it done in about an hour.

I love when time-pressed projects come together like this one did.  I happened to be over at my friend’s house this week and saw the banner hanging in her little girls room… now that made me smile and made me love my hobby  passion more!

Thanks for sharing a piece of “girls are made of rainbow and unicorn magic” pie with me.

Nothing a Little Fairy Dust Can’t Fix

DSC_6841

I have been wanting to share a more up close and personal view a fun project I made that is suited for any sweet little girl’s room.  I found a white wooden base at Michaels and with a little help from the magic maker of the Silhouette, I cut the sentiment on vinyl and the wand star on DCWV Glitter paper (which cut like butter including all the stitching holes along the border).

DSC_6845

After I transferred the vinyl sentiment onto the white base, I painted it using purple spray paint.  As the paint was drying, I dusted the sign with fine glitter. I  allowed it to dry and then removed the vinyl, exposing the white undercoat of the wooden base.

To finish the wand, I ran Hemptique Bamboo Baker’s Twine (the best baker’s twine I have ever worked with!) through the wand and finished with a crinkle ribbon bow and gem. I added a paper straw as a base to the wand and added a few more gems to the corner of the sign.

This is probably one of my favorite projects I have made right now and I have a feeling I will be making a ton of these for all the little girls I know!

Gone Fishin’

th (4)

I just wanted to wish you all a wonderful Fourth of July week and to let you know that I am hanging up my sign that I have “gone fishin'” for the next week!   This will be one of our very first family vacations and we are going to my favorite lakes on the planet, Bass Lake! The temps are suppose to soar and the fireworks will be done over the lake.  I am just too excited to for this fun family adventure of playing in the lake, going to Yosemite (this time I will not be climbing Half-Dome, I have done that 4 times pre kids) and getting to see the park through my kiddos eyes and eating All American Cuisine all week!

Be sure to eat lots of apple pie and hot dogs and enjoy all of your family and friends this holiday week and weekend!

Hello Embossing Powder!

Happy Friday All!  Today my post is up over at Globecraft & Piccolo!  I would have to say this month’s challenge of using their AMAZING embossing powder as part of a layout base was brilliant.  As many of you know, this crafter hardly does any scrapbooking layouts . . . actually I usually run from the idea, but with this challenge I have found I really have enjoyed scrapbooking and most of all have figured out that you don’t need a million layers or embellishments to make a cute scrapbook page.

Head over and check out how I made this “sneak peek” a simple and easy layout with only using Globecraft & Piccolo Embossing Powders and some simple washi tape!

Wrangling Up Some Father’s Day Fun!

FCCB_DT_btn

Yay it is FCCB Monday! Today we are having a great challenge full of Father’s Day inspirations!  Head over and check out what the team has cooked up and LINK up a fun Father’s Day Project using at least ONE Cricut cut.   Here is what I came up with for my own dad using a 7 inch jar cut from Doodlecharms and the AMAZING paper line from Carta Bella designed by Samantha Walker – Giddy Up on a wooden plaque.

DSC_6858

I cut the picture via print and cut feature on my Silhouette and inked the edges. Using CTMH Slate and Chocolate ink, I inked the jar, wooden edges, and paper.  I wrapped the jar with Hemptique Hemp Cord and added button.  I also added a brad I found via Pick Your Plum and additional buttons.

DSC_6851

Layering this paper was so fun and the sticker sentiments are just a kick in the pants! I added some push pin embellishments I got from Pick Your Plum.

DSC_6854

This was a fun project to make and I know that my Daddio will love this!  Now be sure to head over to FCCB and join the party!

Thanks for sharing a piece of “getting my giddy up on” pie with me.
