A Little Crafty Polling in Exchange for a Giveaway!

Happy Monday All!

So, I am putting together my Christmas Wish List and I have a few questions on two different paper crafting products!  I will have a fun giveaway for paper crafting staples just in time for your Christmas projects ( Holiday themed Stickles, and the November Stamp of the Month “Cherish the Day” from Close to my Heart) for those that are willing to take the time to participate.  Please only answer the poll questions if you are a user of one or both of products. If you wish to refer a friend that has knowledge of these products to this poll, I would greatly appreciate it.  More information is great consumer power! 🙂

Check out what the giveaway stamp of December looks like

Please leave a comment, blog-link and/or email that you participated in the polling.  Your comments will not link to your polling, so your poll answers will be anonymous. 🙂 I will close on Friday and I will announce the winner on Saturday.

Thanks for sharing a piece of “knowledge is power” pie with me!

Over the Moon Card and Gift Bag!

I decided to enter this project into a challenge of a new blog, My Creative Time,  I  just stumbled upon for her Throw Back Thursday Challenge of making a kid friendly project.  I could not believe my good fortune that I just did the project so I could add it to her challenge.  I am super happy I found another great blog forum with another great design team full of neat and creative ideas!

This is the matching bag and card I made to go along with a banner I made for a friend’s little boy! My friend was super happy with it all and we had a great time at the party… it was at a local Children’s Museum that I never knew about.  It is totally community funded (no government help) and it was AMAZING! We will be signing up for an annual membership.

I have a little bit, OK who am I kidding, a ton of sass in my personality, so I had a friend post this on my Facebook page, and thought I need to share this on the ‘ol blog… Thanksgiving is my absolute fav holiday, so I have to stand behind Mr. Butterball on this one! Happy November everyone!

Fly Me to the Moon Birthday Banner!

I got the joy of making another boy birthday banner for this weekend!  I was literally over the moon to do this project, since I have been antsy to use my new “B is for Boy” Cricut Lite cartridge.   His theme is “Rockets”.

I found some cute scrapbook paper at Michael’s and used coordinating color card stock to pull it all together.  Tonight I think I may film another “Easy as Pie” videos on the card and gift bag I am going to make to go along with it.

I had so much fun making this banner, especially since the hubs took the girls out last night to meet up with parents who are in town.  I had three hours of Cricut fun that did not mean I had to be up till all hours in the morning to do it! 🙂

Halloween!

Halloween Tree

Well it is over… Halloween that is.  The kids are coming down from the sugar and party high which makes for some challenging moments and there were times yesterday I was convinced they were trying out a few new little monster costumes.

The party was a huge success.  We ended up having  all but 3 families show up but a few “last-minute invites” took their place, so I had a total of about 20 kids and 40-ish adults here.  It was a little overwhelming at times trying to keep cold beverages in everyone’s hands (it was 80 degrees and I was the requested margarita maker – I can make  a mean margarita!) while trying to catch up with friends and remembering to change my youngest diaper.    The best feedback was my oldest telling me that she can’t wait until next year, so we can do it again!

Trick or Treating was my favorite thing we did.  My kids really have the hang of it this year and marched, sometimes bravely, to doors and melted everyone’s heart out of more candy than they should have been given with “please”, “thank you” and “Happy Halloween”.  That made this mommy very happy!

I am super sorry that I don’t have more detailed pictures of my projects and a ton of them are missing.  It was just a bit crazy to get it all documented.  I did have a kids craft table where they got to decorate little fash lights that came with batteries I picked up at Home Depot to take with them for Halloween night. That was a big hit with both kids and parents.

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of “Life’s is a Party” pie with me!

Easy as Pie Trick or Treat Bag!

I am taking a quick break  from party prep!  Here is one of my Halloween projects I just wrapped up.  I made this for a dear friend’s daughter.  I mixed the paint I used with glow in the dark paint, which I tested and it really glows in the dark!  I was unsure it was going to work, so I was pleasantly surprised!  This was a pretty easy bag to make, only took about an hour or so. It was all no sew since I picked up the bag at Michael’s for $1.50 and then me and the glue gun had a hot date (literally)!  I promised my girls they will have one next year! 🙂

Now back to the pre-party madness!  I will post pictures on Monday of the fun event and the fruit of all the hard work these past weeks… one hiccup today though!  I rented white child chairs and paid for them in advance to have this weekend and when I went to pick them up they only had green!  It really does not go with my ghost theme, but I will make due, especially since they were so apologetic and refunded me all the money for their mistake.

Just a Wee Spot of Tea Time Birthday Gift

The hub’s best friend has been in his life for almost 30 years!  Because of that we are close with his mother.  She came to this country over 40 years ago on the Queen Mary from England.  How cool is that!   Anyway, this week is her birthday and I made her a card and got her some tea from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  I decorated that box to match the card.

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of “tea time fun” pie with me!

Cooking With What You Got In . . .

. . . your CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box.    Yes, we are very blessed to live in an area where we can participate in a local CSA program.  When we recently decided to participate in the CSA program I made a commitment to myself that I was going to cook and try everything that came in my box.  Last week I found myself pulling out gold beets and rainbow chard.  YIKES!   I “googled” the two veggies and got a grasp of what they are and some ideas on how to prepare them and then formed two recipes on my own.  So, if you find yourself with a bunch of gold beets and rainbow chard, you now have some ideas!   I tend to get excited about cooking, so  I may get a bit carried away on the descriptions… but oh, how I love food!

This was the goodies in the box this week!

Thanks for sharing a piece of “how the heck am I going to make that” pie with me!

Roasted Gold Beets with Walnuts and Blue cheese or Gorgonzola

This is a dish I think I may put out on Turkey Day!  I would classify it as a hearty comfort food side dish that has a level of elegance that comes across that you may of spent hours in the kitchen with. The beets happen to have  a hint of sweetness, so the tangy cheese is a wonderful complement and the crunch of the walnuts was a perfect finish!    It would be really good winter warm salad!  Just add it to fresh spinach  and served with a balsamic dressing and a rustic bread.  I would serve with a merlot with a berry base – it would really pull the sweetness out of the beets!

Pre-heat oven at 375

Wash and cut 4 medium-sized gold beets into  1 inch chunks

Using a large cookie sheet, spread beets out on to it

Pour about 4-5 tablespoons of olive oil over the beets

Salt and pepper (I use Kosher salt) – take care in adding salt, the blue cheese/gorgonzola has a lot of salt in it.

Spread about 1 cup of walnut halves on cookie sheet

Mix all together until a nice coat of oil is on all the beets

Pop in oven and cook for about 35 minutes or until beets are starting to brown and are tender on the inside.l

Once out of the oven, pour into a serving bowl and lightly toss about 1/2 cup of blue cheese (you can substitute gorgonzola)

Server immediately!

Serves about 4-6

Lemon Rainbow Chard

This is a very bright tasting dish and stems have  a great crunch!  I felt like I was transported to a southern state eating my greens!  This would be a great side dish to go along side Beef Stroganoff- The lemon is a great way to balance out the cream in main dish.

In a large skillet or dutch oven melt 1 tablespoon of butter and 3 tablespoons of olive oil

Add rainbow chard (about gallon sized ziplock bag full) and cook until it starts to cook down like spinach

Once starting to cook down, add salt and pepper to taste and then 1 full lemon squeezed.

Mix well and bring down to simmer and cover for about 3-5 minutes.

Serve immediately!

Serves 4-6

DIY Glitter Spider and My First Video

Happy weekend before Halloween!  I am in the final stages of prepping for the big party next weekend, so what do I decide to do. . . take on another project procrastinate by filming and editing my very first “how to” video.  I have to say I have a HUGE appreciation for all the amazing crafty ladies (My Pink Stamper, Sprinkled with Glitter, etc) that have inspired me to try this whole video thing.  It is a lot of work and time, but super fun to do!

This is my first video, so please watch with a forgiving heart:-)  I am calling it “My Crafting Organicly”video!

Thanks for coming and sharing a piece of procrastination pie with me today!
