I have been off the crafty bloggin’ radar lately, but I have been far from off the craftin’ radar! I have been logging quite a few hours in the ol’ craft studio working on various projects from my little one’s birthday party, a baby shower I made center pieces and a banner for and today’s fun project for Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.
I am competing in a triathlon relay course at the end of September with two of the hub’s co-workers. My responsiblity in the race is to swim 1 mile in the ocean. Thankfully, I have done this triathlon in full about 11 years ago, so I am familiar with the swim course. That does not take away a bit of the pre-race jitters and worries of things that could go awry while in the water… Jaws and leg cramps! 🙂
I made this count down sign to remind me of my pending race and also to “Keep Calm and Swim On”. I have been seeing these type of sayings all over Facebook and Pinterest and thought this would be a fun sport related project that meets cute trendy! If you are wondering what the black square is, it is chalkboard vinyl I got through Expressionsvinyl.com. LOVE THEM! Super reasonable in price and fun to work with.
Now head over to FCCB and get inspired to create something “fanntabulously” sporty!
Thanks for sharing a piece of “keeping calm and crafting and swimming” pie with me!

Love your project….good luck with your tri. I’m a biker, can’t swim at all, but would love to do the bike part!! 🙂
Great project – and such a wonderful way to count down to your tri! I’ve never even heard of a tri relay before. My husband is a triathlete – but he does the entire race himself. I’ll have to discuss this with him to learn more. Best of luck to you!
Thank you Kate! I have to say, this is my first relay as well. I have always done the full tri myself… it is strange to be part of a team this round.
I love this! I’m so impressed that you’re doing this tri!! You are awesome in so many ways! Big hugs!

Thank you BBB! you will be more impressed if I get eaten by a shark or kicked in a head, but a tri guy! 🙂
This is adorable—and what a great visual for your race motivation! You used the negative cuts, didn’t you?? The chalkboard piece is brilliant!! And best of luck in the rest of your training and your race!!! (The swim is the one part of a tri I could never do!! I’ve done a couple of team tris before, I always did the run part, go figure….so much fun though!!)
Thanks Missy! Yes you are right on what I used! I am getting exctied about the race, but also jittery…. Wish we could do a race together! We could be the “Keep Calm and Craft On” team! 🙂
What a cute idea for a card. Good luck in September.
What a cute idea! Love this!
Great way to count down! Love this idea! I am so jealous that you swim. I am afraid of the water and can’t swim. And I have never seen the ocean.
